A Close Call
With enrollment already half over for this year, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite memories from our seven years of being Richard's Rock Camp.
Here are some pictures and videos from Richard's Rock Camp 2013 -- the concert that almost didn't happen. You see, as we were setting up and the parents and students were arriving at the concert venue, Burcham Park, dark ominous clouds opened up and started pouring rain. We had to move everything and everyone at the last minute to our back up location, The Seedco Studios Warehouse. They were not expecting us because we had told them we were proceeding as planned at Burcham Park... YIKES!
To make a long story short, it was obvious we needed help. Everyone -- students, parents, grandparents, and community members -- all pitched in, got soaked, and made the concert happen. I think we started about 40 minutes late, but the ordeal did not rattle the students, if anything, it energized them. What followed were some of the most inspired performances our program had ever witnessed. Here are just a couple of my favorites from that day. Thanks to everyone who has helped to make our program what it is!
